- Yamaha Outboard – F90JB 65 HP Jet Drive | 25-Inch Shaft | Remote Control | Electric Start | Power Trim & Tilt The Yamaha F90JB combines Yamaha four-stroke reliability with the added versatility of a jet-drive lower unit for boats that regularly operate in shallow or obstacle-filled water. Its 1.8L inline four-cylinder engine delivers 65 horsepower through the jet pump, giving boaters responsive acceleration and dependable performance without relying on a conventional exposed propeller. Built for 25-inch transom applications, the F90JB uses remote mechanical controls and is well suited for river boats, shallow-water fishing rigs, utility boats, and other vessels that need extra clearance beneath the hull. Because the jet system does not use a traditional propeller and gearcase extending below the boat, it can provide better access to areas with rocks, sandbars, submerged debris, or limited water depth. Why Choose the Yamaha F90JB? 1.8L Inline 4-Cylinder EngineYamaha’s proven four-cylinder platform provides smooth operation, dependable torque, and responsive acceleration across a wide range of operating conditions. 65 HP Jet OutputThe F90JB delivers 65 horsepower through the jet pump, making it a strong option for shallow-water applications where conventional propeller clearance may be a concern. Shallow-Water Jet Drive DesignThe jet-drive configuration removes the exposed propeller and traditional lower gearcase, helping reduce the amount of running gear positioned beneath the hull. Electronic Fuel InjectionMulti-point electronic fuel injection helps maintain consistent fuel delivery for reliable starting, smooth throttle response, and efficient engine operation. 25" Shaft ConfigurationDesigned for boats equipped with a 25-inch transom and applications that require the mounting dimensions associated with Yamaha’s jet-drive setup. Remote Mechanical ControlsThe F90JB is built for helm-operated installations using compatible Yamaha mechanical throttle and shift controls. Electric Start and Power Trim & TiltElectric starting simplifies engine operation, while power trim and tilt allow the operator to adjust engine position for changing water depth, loading, and running conditions. Yamaha Gray ExteriorThe traditional Yamaha Gray finish gives the engine a clean, understated appearance that works well with a wide variety of boat designs. YDC-30 Aluminum AlloyYamaha’s proprietary aluminum alloy construction helps provide durability while keeping weight under control for demanding marine use. Command Link® CompatibilityThe F90JB can be integrated with compatible Yamaha Command Link® instrumentation and supported analog gauge systems for engine monitoring at the helm. For boaters who frequently travel through shallow rivers, rocky channels, flats, or areas with submerged obstacles, the Yamaha F90JB offers a practical alternative to a conventional propeller-driven outboard. Its combination of 65 HP jet output, 25-inch shaft configuration, remote controls, and Yamaha’s 1.8L four-stroke platform makes it well suited for specialized shallow-water boating applications. Frequently Asked Questions Q: How much horsepower does the Yamaha F90JB deliver?A: The Yamaha F90JB is based on Yamaha’s 90-horsepower 1.8L four-stroke platform and delivers 65 horsepower through the jet pump. Q: Why choose a jet-drive outboard instead of a propeller-driven model?A: A jet-drive outboard does not have a conventional propeller and gearcase hanging below the hull. This can provide additional clearance when operating in shallow water or in areas with rocks, sandbars
- and submerged obstacles. Q
- What transom height is the Yamaha F90JB designed for?A: The F90JB is configured for boats with a 25-inch transom. Q: Can the Yamaha F90JB work with Command Link® gauges?A: Yes. The F90JB supports compatible Yamaha Command Link® instrumentation as well as certain analog gauge configurations
- depending on the rigging setup. Q
- Does the Yamaha F90JB require a propeller?A: No. The F90JB uses a jet pump for propulsion, so a conventional propeller is not used or selected for this engine.
