About FindSift
Last updated September 2026
Most product search makes you already know the answer. Type the exact model name and you get it; describe the problem you are trying to solve and you get noise.
The idea
You should be able to say what you actually need — the space you have, the job it has to do, what you want to spend — and get a short list you can reason about, with the reasons stated.
That is what FindSift is being built toward. Not a wall of results ranked by who paid most.
How it works
- Product data comes from merchant catalogues through affiliate networks, refreshed on a schedule.
- Everything is sorted into one consistent set of categories, so products from merchants that describe things differently still sit next to each other.
- When you follow a link to buy, you go to the merchant's own site.
What it is not good at yet
Being straight about this is more useful than a launch announcement:
- Coverage is uneven. Some categories are deep and others have barely anything, depending on which merchants we work with.
- Detail beyond price is limited. We can state price, brand and category reliably. Going deeper — matching detailed specifications between products — needs structured data most merchant feeds do not provide, and that work is in progress.
- We are not the whole market. See how we make money for why, and what it means for what you see.
