and installation separately. Boat fitThe VF90LB can be considered for compatible bass boats, flats boats, aluminum fishing boats, bay boats, and similar performance-oriented hulls when the manufacturer supports a 90 HP engine, the transom is designed for a 20-inch shaft, and the remote-control layout suits the boat. Boat type alone does not establish fitment. VF90LB vs. VF90XB: Both are Yamaha V MAX SHO 90 configurations with a 1.8-liter inline four-cylinder engine, remote mechanical controls, electric start, power trim and tilt, and EFI. The verified configuration difference on this page is shaft length and corresponding dry weight: VF90LB uses a 20-inch shaft and Yamaha lists it at 353 lb, while VF90XB uses a 25-inch shaft and is listed at 362 lb. Select the model that matches the boat's transom and mounting requirements. VF90LB vs. F90LB: VF90LB belongs to Yamaha's performance-focused V MAX SHO family, while F90LB belongs to Yamaha's Midrange family. Both current 20-inch configurations are 90 HP, use a 1.8-liter inline four-cylinder platform, and are listed at 353 lb. Compare the exact current model specifications, rigging requirements, and intended application rather than assuming the V MAX SHO version is simply a lighter F90. Yamaha 90 HP outboard price factors: Final cost can vary by the exact VF90 model, current product price and availability, propeller, controls, gauges, steering, harnesses, freight, dealer preparation, installation, warranty options, taxes, and promotions. Use the current VF90LB product configuration or quote instead of a generic price range. To compare other performance-focused Yamaha 90 HP and higher options, browse Yamaha V MAX SHO 90-250 HP Outboards. For the standard Yamaha midrange family, compare Yamaha 30-115 HP Midrange Outboards. Before installation, confirm compatible Yamaha outboard controls and rigging, select the appropriate Yamaha outboard propeller, and use OEM Yamaha outboard parts for model-specific service and replacement needs. Frequently Asked Questions What is the Yamaha VF90LB? The Yamaha VF90LB is a 90 HP V MAX SHO four-stroke outboard configuration with a 20-inch shaft, 1.8-liter inline four-cylinder engine, remote mechanical controls, electric start, power trim and tilt, EFI, and Command Link-compatible instrumentation. What shaft length does the Yamaha VF90LB use? The VF90LB uses a 20-inch shaft. Match that shaft length to the transom height and mounting geometry specified by the boat manufacturer before ordering. How much does the Yamaha VF90LB weigh? Yamaha lists the 20-inch VF90 configuration at 353 lb dry weight. Yamaha's published dry-weight measurement excludes motor oil, gearcase oil, and the propeller, so account for the complete installed setup when checking the boat's weight limits and balance. Is the Yamaha VF90LB remote-control or tiller-steered? The VF90LB is a remote mechanical-control configuration. Confirm the compatible control box, steering system, cables, harnesses, gauges, and installation components for the boat. What is the difference between VF90LB and VF90XB? VF90LB uses a 20-inch shaft and is listed at 353 lb, while VF90XB uses a 25-inch shaft and is listed at 362 lb. Both are 90 HP V MAX SHO configurations with remote mechanical controls, electric start, power trim and tilt, and EFI. Choose according to the boat's required transom and shaft setup. What is the difference between Yamaha VF90LB and F90LB? VF90LB is part of Yamaha's V MAX SHO performance family, while F90LB is part of the Midrange family. Both current models are 90 HP 1.8-liter inline four-cylinder outboards and both 20-inch versions are listed at 353 lb. Compare the exact product specifications and intended application rather than assuming only weight or one feature separates them. Can the VF90LB connect to Yamaha digital gauges? Yes. Yamaha identifies VF90LB as Command Link compatible, so supported Yamaha gauges and engine-data displays can be used with the correct rigging. The engine's listed control configuration is remote mechanical, so gauge compatibility should not be confused with universal digital throttle-and-shift compatibility. Does the VF90LB include a propeller or complete rigging kit? No. The current motor listing states that the propeller and complete rigging package are selected separately. Confirm the required propeller, controls, harnesses, gauges, steering components, mounting hardware, freight, preparation, and installation for the exact boat. What affects Yamaha V MAX SHO 90 outboard price? Final cost can vary by the exact VF90 model, current availability, controls, gauges, steering, propeller, harnesses, freight, dealer preparation, installation, warranty options, taxes, and promotions. This VF90 configuration uses a 1.8-liter inline four-cylinder engine, Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI), remote mechanical controls, electric start, power trim and tilt, and Command Link-compatible instrumentation. Before ordering, confirm the boat's horsepower and engine-weight limits, 25-inch transom requirement, steering and control setup, propeller, rigging, and the exact VF90XB configuration selected on this page. Yamaha lists the 25-inch VF90 at 362 lb dry weight. The V MAX SHO 90 produces 90 HP at the prop shaft and uses a 35-amp alternator. Its 25-inch shaft extends the VF90 platform to compatible deeper-transom applications, but shaft length must be matched to the boat's mounting geometry rather than selected simply because a boat is used in coastal or saltwater conditions. Key Features & Benefits 90 HP Yamaha V MAX SHO four-stroke outboard with a 1.8-liter inline four-cylinder engine. 25-inch shaft for boats whose transom height and mounting geometry require the X-shaft VF90 configuration. 362 lb dry weight for the 25-inch VF90 configuration, measured by Yamaha without motor oil, gearcase oil, or propeller. Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) for precise fuel metering and consistent engine operation. Remote mechanical control configuration for a compatible helm, control box, steering system, cables, and rigging. Electric start with power trim and tilt for starting and engine-angle adjustment. 35-amp alternator output at wide-open throttle for battery charging and supported onboard electrical loads. Part Number and Compatibility Model code: VF90XB. This is the 25-inch-shaft V MAX SHO 90 configuration. Do not substitute the standard F90XB or the 20-inch VF90LB based on horsepower alone; confirm the exact suffix, shaft length, transom fit, controls, and rigging requirements before ordering. Buyer check VF90XB product detail What to verify before ordering Model family V MAX SHO 90, model VF90XB Confirm the selected model is VF90XB rather than another Yamaha 90 HP suffix. Horsepower 90 HP Stay within the boat manufacturer's maximum horsepower and engine-weight limits. Shaft / transom 25-inch shaft Confirm the boat requires a compatible 25-inch transom and mounting height. Do not select a 25-inch shaft simply because the boat is used offshore or in saltwater. Dry weight 362 lb Confirm the transom, hull balance, and total engine-weight allowance for the selected installation. Controls Remote mechanical Confirm the helm, throttle/shift controls, steering, cables, harnesses, and related rigging are compatible. Starting / trim Electric start; power trim and tilt Confirm battery, electrical, switch, trim-control, and installation requirements. Instrumentation Command Link compatible Match gauges and displays to the exact engine and rigging package. Command Link compatibility should not be treated as proof that every digital throttle/shift system is supported. Propeller Selected separately for the boat setup Match propeller family, diameter, pitch, material, and application to the engine, hull, load, and recommended operating RPM. Rigging / order contents Propeller and complete rigging package are not included with the motor listing Confirm controls, harnesses, gauges, steering components, propeller, mounting hardware, freight, dealer preparation and installation separately.
