Use the Model Comparison Guide above the model selector to review shaft length, steering setup, start type, trim system, finish, High Thrust options, and other model details before ordering. The Yamaha T50LC is a High Thrust 50 HP Yamaha outboard built for boats that need stronger low-speed control and pushing power rather than maximum top-end speed. Its High Thrust gearcase and propeller setup make it especially useful for pontoons, sailboats, displacement-style hulls, and heavier applications that benefit from confident maneuvering. This four-stroke model uses remote-control operation, electric start, power trim and tilt, Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI), and a 20-inch shaft. It is designed for boats with compatible remote steering and Yamaha control-box systems; it is not a tiller-handle configuration. Yamaha T50LC Key Features 50 HP four-stroke power: Smooth, efficient performance for compatible boats rated for a 50-horsepower outboard. High Thrust design: Prioritizes low-speed thrust, control, and load-moving capability. 20-inch shaft: Intended for compatible transoms requiring a long-shaft outboard. Remote-control operation: Works with a compatible Yamaha remote steering and control-box setup. Electric start: Provides convenient push-button starting. Power trim and tilt: Helps adjust running angle, shallow-water clearance, and trailering position. Electronic Fuel Injection: Supports reliable starting and smooth throttle response. Yamaha Gray finish: Classic factory color for a wide range of boat styles. Yamaha T50LC FAQs What is the difference between the Yamaha T50LC and a standard F50 model? The T50LC is the High Thrust option. It is designed to provide stronger low-speed thrust and control for pontoons, sailboats, displacement hulls, and heavier applications, while standard F50 models are generally better suited to lighter planing hulls and broader recreational use. Is the Yamaha T50LC a tiller or remote-control outboard? The T50LC listed on this page is a remote-control 50 HP outboard intended for a compatible remote steering and Yamaha control-box setup. What boats are best suited to the Yamaha T50LC? The T50LC is commonly considered for properly rated pontoons, sailboats, displacement-style hulls, and other boats that benefit from stronger low-speed pushing power. Confirm horsepower capacity, transom height, shaft length, steering, and rigging before ordering. Best Boats for a Yamaha 50 HP Outboard A Yamaha 50 HP outboard can power several common recreational and fishing-boat types, but the correct model depends on hull design, load, transom height, and how the boat is used. The guidance below is a starting point rather than a substitute for the boat manufacturer's rating. Boat type Typical fit Model guidance Pontoon boat Good fit when rated for 50 HP Choose a standard F50 for general use or consider the T50 High Thrust model when stronger low-speed control and pushing power are priorities. Aluminum fishing boat Strong fit A standard F50 can provide a useful balance of power, fuel efficiency, and manageable weight on a properly rated hull. Skiff Strong fit Confirm the hull's horsepower rating, transom height, expected load, and use in shallow or open water. Small center console Good fit if properly rated Verify that a 20-inch shaft and remote-control configuration match the transom and steering setup. Sailboat or displacement hull Application dependent The T50LC High Thrust model is generally the more relevant option when low-speed thrust and maneuvering control matter more than top speed. Tender or small inflatable Usually too much power A lower-horsepower portable Yamaha outboard may be more appropriate. Large or heavy offshore boat Usually not enough power A higher-horsepower Yamaha outboard platform is typically required. Before choosing a 50 HP Yamaha outboard, always check the boat's capacity plate, maximum horsepower rating, transom height, required shaft length, steering setup, rigging compatibility, and typical passenger and gear load. What to Check Before Buying a Yamaha F50 Outboard Horsepower rating: Make sure the boat is approved for a 50 HP outboard motor. Transom height: Confirm that the boat requires a 20-inch shaft. Control setup: The models listed on this page use remote-control operation, so confirm steering and control-box compatibility. Standard or High Thrust: Choose a standard F50 for general planing-hull use or the T50LC when stronger low-speed thrust is more important. Trim system: These listed configurations use power trim and tilt; confirm the electrical and rigging requirements for your boat. Rigging and included equipment: Verify whether controls, gauges, cables, harnesses, steering components, mounting hardware, propeller, freight, and installation are included or sold separately. Boat load: Account for passengers, fuel, batteries, fishing equipment, coolers, and other regularly carried gear. Finish: Compare Yamaha Gray, Pearl White, and Matte Brown options when color matching matters. Complete Your Yamaha 50 HP Outboard Setup A complete Yamaha F50 installation may require more than the engine itself. Confirm the controls, steering, gauges, cables, wiring, propeller, mounting components, and installation requirements for the selected model and boat. Match the engine with compatible Yamaha outboard controls and control boxes. Monitor engine and operating data with compatible Yamaha outboard gauges. Choose the correct load and performance setup from the Yamaha outboard propellers collection. Prepare for scheduled maintenance with Yamaha 20-hour and 100-hour service kits. Review the Yamaha outboard service schedule for general maintenance interval guidance. Use Yamaha outboard engine schematics to identify model-specific service and replacement parts.
