Frequently Asked Questions → Can I use this clear coat without the base coat? No. This product is designed to be applied over Yamaha Part A base coat (EB White). Skipping the base may result in poor adhesion or incorrect finish. → How do I prep the cowling before painting?Clean the surface thoroughly, sand lightly if needed, and make sure it’s dry and free from oils or residue. Apply the base coat first, then this clear coat after the base has flashed off (per Yamaha’s instructions). → What's the right way to paint an outboard motor cowling? The best results come from a two-step system: apply the OEM base color (Part A), let it flash, then follow with this pearlescent clear coat (Part B). Always work in a well-ventilated area and follow Yamaha’s paint guidelines for prep, layering, and drying times.
